At Asymchem’s Center of Synthetic Biology Technology (CSBT), we’re proud to share our recent publication in ACS Catalysis “Engineered Styrene Monooxygenase by the RRIPE Strategy for Efficient Enantioselective Synthesis of Efinaconazole Intermediate.” This work offers a green and efficient route to triazole antifungal drugs and presents a new strategy for enzyme evolution from scratch. By employing AI-assisted design and the RRIPE strategy, we have effectively evolved styrene monooxygenase (SMO) for the synthesis of a key Efinaconazole intermediate — achieving >99% conversion, with a 1680-fold increase in catalytic efficiency! ??
